Nevada Legislature Delivered for Working Families
An op-ed in the Reno Gazette Journal by Battle Born Progress and Faith in Action NV notes:
With nearly one in three millennials and nearly 25,000 Nevada seniors still paying back their student loans, student loan debt threatens to sap economic opportunities for hundreds of thousands of Nevadans and our state’s economic future. To take on this challenge, Assemblyman Howard Watts III passed legislation to create a student loan ombudsman in the treasurer’s office. This position will provide guidance and relief to students seeking to overcome the crushing burden of student loan debt. Thanks to Assemblyman Watts, students will now have a government officer to help guide them on the path to paying back student loans and help them avoid predatory lenders in the first place.
