Update: COVID-19 Resources and Information
Here’s a message I shared to help the community access pandemic programs and information. - Howard
Hello friends and neighbors,
Our community is facing unprecedented challenges as we try to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus and save lives. Things are changing rapidly, and I wanted to provide you with some updates and information.
Where to Find Answers and Help:
Senator Catherine Cortez Masto has put together the most detailed resource guide I've found, with tips to get assistance for food, health care, unemployment, rent, utilities, and more.
Ayuda Nevada has much of that information in Spanish.
Nevada Health Response is updated regularly with information about the outbreak and actions the state is taking.
Contact me at Howard@WattsForNevada.com or 725-222-3201 if you have questions or if you or somebody you know is struggling with rent, food, or other basic needs.
What I'm Doing:
Following State and Federal guidelines to keep myself and my family healthy by:
Staying home as much as possible
Staying 6 feet away from people outside of my household, and
Regularly washing my hands and sanitizing frequently touched objects
Keeping in regular contact with Governor Sisolak's office to get updates and share community needs
Delivering food to those who are unable to leave their homes due to age, disability or illness
Connecting with community members, nonprofits, and government agencies to identify and address needs, especially for people facing homelessness
What You Can Do:
Visit my Twitter and Facebook pages for more frequent updates.
Look out for your neighbors. Check in on those you know who are elderly or frail.
If you are not at high risk and have extra face masks, hand sanitizer, or gloves, consider donating them to health care workers on the front lines that are running low. You can also sew masks that can then be washed and reused.
Donate to Three Square if you can to help them provide food for our community. Demand for food is at record levels and increasing.
Donate Blood if you feel comfortable - while COVID-19 patients usually don't require transfusions the outbreak has reduced donations and the blood supply is low.
Contact me if people need help or if you have donations that I can pick up.
Together, we will get through this crisis and the many challenges it presents.
